AGE APPROPRIATE TOYS FOR DEVELOPMENT AT STAGES:

The New Born and The First Month

Activity Mat- The new born baby is curled up in a flexed position most of the times.

An activity mat provides the perfect space to stretch about. The over head attachments can be over stimulating for the baby right now, detach them till a later stage.

Music Device-The new born baby has a well developed hearing sense. Playing some soothing music has a calming effect. A portable music device connected to your phone is handy in playing some soothing music.

Crib Mobiles-The New born baby can only see high contrast colors and distinct contours. Crib Mobiles with contrast colors and clear patterns engage baby’s attention and support visual development.


Two to Three Months Age

Big Rings- The Baby begins to open its palm around 2-3 months. Big rings that the baby can hold help in developing a grasp. Look for rings that can be attached and removed easily to crib or activity mat.

Baby Safe Mirror- A shatter proof, sharp edge less Baby safe mirror is fun for the baby. The baby begins to observe its own reflection. The Mirror play promotes cognitive development, eye contact, curiosity, and focus.

Four to Five Months Age

Soft Blocks- Baby may be too young to build a tower at this age. Babies this age however will love to knock down the stacked tower that you make. They love to throw these around. Books- You can start reading to your baby around this age. Choose books with little or no text and big, high-contrast pictures. Babies love books with interactive stuff, such as puppets, mirrors, or peepholes.

Choose board books, which can take rough handling and even chewing. Cloth or vinyl books are good options to consider.

Nine to Twelve Months Age

Shape Sorters- Shape sorter toys are great tool to develop fine and visual motor skills as the Babies turn and rotate the pieces to fit in the hole.
